Where AI gets its answers
Before an engine names a company, it reads the web. These are the sites each engine cited most in its 60 answers for the Northern Rivers, by the share of answers citing them.

Two things stand out. Google AI Mode leans on northernrivers.it for 45% of its answers, so a company not listed there is largely invisible on Google AI Mode. ChatGPT cites company sites directly: underseage.studio tops its list, so a company’s own pages decide whether it is named.
What to do with your row
Most recommendedTop 3 on an engine
Open your full report, then take the “Top 3 in AI answers” badge. It names the engine, it links back here, and it is free. Then keep the spot: Findrix tracks all three engines for your company and tells you when a rival moves in.
MentionedNamed, not recommended
Findrix shows you, answer by answer, who took the recommendation instead of you and which sites got them there. Your site becomes a numbered list of edits, and the next scan confirms each one.
Not namedMissing from all 180 answers
Findrix runs your buyers’ questions for your company and shows what AI says instead of you, with every wrong fact and the correction written for you.
What “Top 3 in AI answers” means
A company gets the badge when it is in the top 3 on any single engine, by how many of that engine’s answers recommend it, not just name it. The badge names the engine, so a company can hold it on Gemini and not on ChatGPT. In the Northern Rivers that is Keenstreet, Seage Studio and NJ Web Services on ChatGPT. Cicom, Owl Web Design and Byron Bay Software on Gemini. Cicom, Live Branch Studios and Hello Again on Google AI Mode. 9 badges, 8 companies. A badge holder confirms its website inside the report and puts the badge on its site, and it links back to this page.
The 60 questions we asked
Every company was measured against the same 60 questions, asked the way a buyer types them, with no company name in the question. Grouped by how the question is asked: four kinds.
Use case (the job is named)
1 question
- We support adults with intellectual disability and need an easy-read app with pictures and plain words, so which software development agencies in Goonellabah have built to that standard?
Alternatives (excluding the well-known)
the question asks for options outside the market leaders7 questions
- Is there a small independent app development company in Lismore that builds ordering and delivery runs for local food co-ops and box schemes?
- Any independent software companies in Casino, NSW that build spray and chemical application records for farm contractors?
- Any boutique software consultancies in the Tweed Valley in northern New South Wales that build packing shed and grower payment tools for fruit growers?

Criterion (price, reviews, support, integration)
a plain category question with one qualifier5 questions
- Which software consultancies in Casino, New South Wales will give a fixed price we can take to our co-op's budget vote?
- Which software development partners in Kyogle work in staged payments, because our directors only sign off once each stage has been demonstrated?

+ 2 more questions in this group.
Other phrasing
47 questions

- We're reopening our shop after the flood damage at Easter and want click-and-collect ordering working from day one, so which custom software development companies in Lismore could manage that?

+ 44 more questions in this group.
How we measure
Each of the 60 questions was asked once to ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode in October 2026: 180 answers. We read every answer and record which companies it names. A company’s share is the part of answers that name it. Different spellings of one company are merged into one row.
Left out: companies outside the Northern Rivers, and names that aren’t custom software development companies. A name AI gave without a website we could find is listed without a profile.
One run per question means a single answer moves a company at the bottom of the table by a point. Treat differences of 1 to 2% as noise and the top 20 as stable.
One email when the next run moves this list: who entered, who left, where you stand. No newsletter.
Questions about this ranking
Why isn’t my company listed?
Either no engine named it in the 180 answers we read, or it was named and we could not match it to a website. Search the list above. If it was named, its full report is ready and you can add the website from there. If it was never named, Findrix shows what AI says when buyers ask about custom software development companies, which rivals it names instead, and a ranked list of fixes: the page, the edit, and the next scan ticks it off. It starts with the 7-day trial.
What is in the full report?
Everything we collected about the company: its position on each of ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, recommended or only mentioned, its average position in the answer and what AI says about it word for word. It opens after a quick login, free, for anyone. The “Top 3 in AI answers” badge goes on the company’s site when any engine puts it in its top 3.
Why would I subscribe if I am already listed?
This page is one snapshot. Findrix is where you control and grow your AI visibility over time: your own question set, 60 to 180 questions by plan, tracked for you and your rivals. On every answer you see recommended, only mentioned, or a rival, and which sites earned that rival the spot. Wrong facts come with the correction email written for you. Your site becomes a numbered plan: which page, what to change, confirmed by the next scan. A PDF report for you and your team. It starts with the 7-day trial.
Can I correct or remove my company’s listing?
Use Request a correction at the bottom of the page: we check the change against the answers and fix the listing. Sign in with an email on the company’s domain to open its full report. For anything else, write to us there too and we will look at it against your website.
